JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann is warning Mississippi-registered businesses to not be deceived by a company that tries to get businesses to pay to submit an annual minutes statement.

Hosemann’s office says it has received numerous complaints about a company called Annual Business Services that requests sensitive information and $125 to prepare an annual minutes statement for filing with the secretary of state’s office.

The office requires no such statement. Hosemann is urging businesses to use “extreme caution” in giving out such information.

Anyone with questions can call the business services division at 601-359-1633.

Violations should be reported to the consumer protection division of the attorney’s general’s office at 601-359-4230.
