FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) - The New York Jets have posthumously honored a New Jersey high school football coach by selecting him as their coach of the week.

Gary Mioli, who was heading into his 24th season at Park Ridge High School, died on Sept. 11 - two days before the Owls’ opener. He was 57.

The Jets, in a partnership with Chase, select a coach every week during the season.

Park Ridge’s football program will receive a $2,000 award in Mioli’s name, and his wife Patty will get a certificate and game ball, and was invited to watch the Jets’ game against New England on Dec. 21 in Chase’s suite at MetLife Stadium.

Park Ridge defeated Harrison 28-7 on Sept. 13 and dedicated the game to Mioli, who was 127-103 with the Owls.
