WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say a West Des Moines woman was trying to sell a motor home when it burst into flames.

Melissa Betts was showing the 1978 Shasta motor home to a potential buyer Monday night, according to police. She had put in a new battery to try to get the vehicle to start.

Betts said the motor home caught on fire from the engine area as she tried to get it to start, Des Moines television station KCCI reported (https://bit.ly/1B45Gc6 ). Firefighters responded and put out the fire.

The motor home had an estimated value of $5,000 to $6,000, according to police.
