NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Nashville police have identified a man who died when his motorcycle collided with a train east of downtown.

Police say 50-year-old Phillip McLemore of Adamsville passed several vehicles that were stopped by warning devices due to an oncoming train Tuesday. Police said one of the stopped vehicles was a tractor-trailer that blocked McLemore’s view of the Nashville & Eastern Railroad train.

Police said when McLemore saw the oncoming locomotive, he lost control of the motorcycle and hit the train. He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where police say he died.
