UNION CITY, Okla. (AP) - A central Oklahoma school district has canceled classes for Tuesday and Wednesday after three students were diagnosed with meningitis.

Union City Public Schools Superintendent Todd Carel says classes were canceled as a precaution. It’s not yet known whether the students have viral meningitis or bacterial meningitis, which is typically more severe.

Carel says all three students who fell ill are in high school. He says the school has already been sanitized but additional cleaning may take place while classes are canceled.
