COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio plays a leading role in a new film on the powerful influence of corporations on American politics.

“Pay 2 Play” is an 89-minute documentary directed by John Wellington Ennis.

It opens with references to the bellwether state’s 2006 investment scandal, dubbed Coingate, and goes on to feature political campaigns and protests in Cleveland and Cincinnati.

Convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff, political commentator Noam Chomsky and dozens of others are interviewed in the film, which opens for seven-day runs in Columbus and Cincinnati on Friday. It’s already played held-over engagements in New York, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.

Past political documentaries have also featured Ohio and its pivotal role in national politics.
