ROYAL, Ark. (AP) - Garland County authorities have arrested a man who they say starved 27 dogs and horses.

KATV-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1ppmjsj ) the suspect was arrested on 27 counts of aggravated animal cruelty after deputies raided his Royal home on Sunday. The sheriff’s department says a neighbor complained about a bad smell coming from the property.

Deputies found three dogs and one horse dead. They say 13 dogs and 14 horses were starved and some had matted fur and visible sores.

The man is being held at the Garland County jail on $67,500 bond. It’s unclear if he’s been charged.
