PERRY, Mo. (AP) - The pilot of a small plane escaped injury and avoided hitting any cars after making an emergency landing on a highway in northeast Missouri.

The Quincy (Illinois) Herald-Whig (https://bit.ly/ZbSBC2 ) reports that the landing happened Monday afternoon on Missouri Route 19 near Perry, not far from Mark Twain Lake.

Ralls County Chief Deputy Chris Flynn says the plane was flying from Texas to Quincy when the pilot noticed mechanical problems. He was alone on the aircraft and successfully landed on the roadway.

The pilot’s name has not been released.
