BEAVER, Utah (AP) - A Tennessee woman has been ordered to spend up to five years in prison in the stabbing death of her husband at a Utah motel this spring.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1qq3Trq ) 44-year-old Dorothy Searcy was sentenced last week to zero to five years after pleading guilty to a reduced charge of third-degree felony manslaughter.

She was originally charged with murder after her 45-year-old husband, Reginald Searcy, was fatally stabbed with a steak knife in May.

Beaver County Sheriff Cameron Noel says the couple had been panhandling in Beaver after their car broke down on a trip around the country.

Dorothy Searcy told police her husband of ten years had been drinking heavily, slapped her and pulled her hair before she stabbed him in their motel room.
