WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - A young, pregnant prosecutor described as a rising star at the Delaware Attorney General’s Office has died unexpectedly, along with her unborn child.

Deputy Attorney General Sarita Wright, 33, died on Sunday, Jason Miller, a spokesman for the Attorney General’s Office, said Tuesday.

Police and paramedics responded to Wright’s home in Elkton, Maryland on Sunday night after getting a call about someone having a heart attack, according to the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office. Paramedics weren’t able to revive Wright, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to The News Journal, (https://delonline.us/1v9cV0F ).

Wright married in 2012 to Tony Lucas, an assistant football coach at the University of Delaware, was about six months pregnant with her first child. The baby didn’t survive.

An autopsy was being conducted on Wright to determine what caused her death, standard procedure for someone so young and healthy; foul play is not suspected, said Lt. Michael Holmes.

Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden said in a statement Tuesday that Wright was “incredibly committed and accomplished.”

“Her passing is a shock to us all,” he said. “As we deeply mourn her passing our hearts and prayers go out to her husband Tony and to her entire family.”

Beth Savitz, an assistant public defender, said Wright’s death cast a pall over the New Castle County Courthouse. “She was a dedicated prosecutor who believed in the job she did, and she was good people,” she said.

Wright, a native of Massachusetts, began working with the Delaware Attorney General’s Office in June 2007 as a summer law clerk and was hired in August 2008. Shortly after passing the Delaware bar in December 2009, she became a deputy attorney general.
