BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) - The town of Brattleboro, Vermont, isn’t having much luck filling its town manager position.

In its third attempt to fill the spot, the selectboard had a top candidate. But the Brattleboro Reformer reports (https://bit.ly/1bI41RH) that person removed his name from consideration two hours before the board was set to confirm his contract Tuesday.

Board member David Schoales said the candidate had experience as a town manager in the state with a similarly-sized town and was familiar with the state and with the Legislature.

The board had failed to come to an agreement with top candidates in its previous two attempts.

Former Town Manager Barbara Sondag left last year, and former Assistant Town Manager Patrick Moreland has been acting as the interim town manager since.
