ELLENSBURG, Wash. (AP) - Kittitas County commissioners are asking the state Parks and Recreation Commission to allow farmers and ranchers to drive tractors and harvesters on the John Wayne Pioneer Trail.

In a letter this month, the commissioners said the trail is a valuable recreational asset but an impediment to landowners.

The Daily Record reports (https://bit.ly/1yr400b ) more than 90 miles of the trail run through the county. The former railroad bed is part of Iron Horse State Park which extends from North Bend to the Columbia River near Vantage.
