LORAIN, Ohio (AP) - A 16-year-old girl and her father are suing her northeast Ohio high school, claiming that the behavior of school staff led to her losing a school election.

Charles Brown and daughter Aliceison claim in the lawsuit that a principal and teacher preferred Aliceison’s opponent in the sophomore class election at Clearview High School in Lorain.

Charles Brown tells The (Lorain) Morning Journal (https://bit.ly/1va4z9K ) that staff members made efforts to cheat, disgrace, humiliate and bully Aliceison to make sure she didn’t win the election.

The school’s principal, Jessica Tafe, denied the allegations. She told the newspaper that staff members make try to make sure student elections are fair, and would never knowingly do anything “to make our students feel badly.”

The lawsuit, filed last week, seeks thousands of dollars in restitution.
