CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - A federal grand jury in East Tennessee has indicted a former Hamilton County sheriff’s deputy on charges of civil rights violation, kidnapping and possessing a gun during the commission of a crime.

The Justice Department says 33-year-old Willie Greer was indicted Tuesday in Chattanooga. According to the indictment, he is accused of sexually assaulting a woman on Jan. 5 while on duty as a deputy with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, violating her constitutional due process rights to bodily integrity.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether Greer had an attorney.
