CLINTON, Ark. (AP) - Federal and Arkansas officials have announced numerous arrests and charges in connection with a drug investigation based in the Clinton area in Van Buren County.

U.S. Attorney Chris Thyer; Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent in Charge David Downing; Prosecuting Attorney Cody Hiland; and Van Buren County Sheriff Scott Bradley announced the charges and arrests on Wednesday.

In all, 34 people are charged with 45 separate counts that include conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine and weapons charges. Investigators say the group distributed or possessed more than 300 pounds of methamphetamine.

Officials say more than six pounds of methamphetamine and 52 firearms were seized.
