PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A thief in Providence made off with an SUV full of food donated to a church.

Richard Benoit was unloading food into Oasis of Grace Christian Fellowship on Monday and was inside when his car was stolen.

It was filled with boxes of food donated from area supermarkets. Benoit typically delivers the food to the church and public housing complexes three times a week.

Benoit had left his keys in the black Saturn Vue while he unloaded the boxes.

He tells WJAR-TV (https://bit.ly/1tZ93Ru ) the thief drove off with the SUV’s hatch still open, and some of the food fell out of the back. The rest is gone.

Doug Rushworth, ministry director, says they’ll have to pray to find enough food to give out to needy families.
