HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. (AP) - A regional firefighting grant of more than $1.5 million has been awarded to the Detroit enclave of Highland Park.

The funding was announced Wednesday by U.S. Sens. Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin.

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant program is competitive and part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. It helps pay for professional training, and equipment and facilities updates.
