ROCHESTER, Mich. (AP) - Kmart plans to close five Michigan stores in early December.

The Detroit News reports (https://bit.ly/1DxcSl1 ) the retailer announced Tuesday that closings will be at stores in Rochester, Madison Heights, Port Huron, Burton and Flint.

The newspaper reports about 610 mostly part-time workers will lose their jobs. Spokesman Howard Riefs says the closures “are part of a series of actions we’re taking to reduce on-going expenses, adjust our asset base and accelerate the transformation of our business model.”
