DETROIT (AP) - Four Detroit schools will celebrate recent improvements during the district’s first-ever makeover week.

A ribbing-cutting is scheduled Wednesday afternoon at Bates Academy for $2.7 million spent on new heating and cooling units, ceiling replacement in all classrooms, new lighting and other upgrades.

The work is the start of a multi-year renovation at the school.

Carver STEM Academy will unveil a new media center on Thursday. The media center was donated by the Detroit Pistons and Farm Bureau Insurance.

Cody Academies Campus will dedicate its new $1 million football field on Friday and give tours of a new medical simulation lab.

Durfee Elementary-Middle School will show off its newly renovated library on Oct. 1. The library features 2,000 new books and technology upgrades.
