FLIPPIN, Ark. (AP) - Flippin police arrested a 33-year-old man who they say sped away from a traffic stop after an officer tried to shoot him with a Taser.

Flippin Police Chief Dusty Smith tells the Baxter Bulletin (https://bit.ly/1ohyCYd ) the chase began Tuesday after the officer approached a Dodge Charger with two passengers. He says the man refused an order to exit the car and the officer tried to stun him.

Smith says the man crashed into a tree before trying to flee on foot. The officer who attempted the original arrest again shot at the man with the Taser and hit him.

The female passenger was taken to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.

The man is being held in the Marion County jail without bond.
