MIDLAND, Mich. (AP) - Nearly 150 members of the Michigan Army National Guard have returned home following an 11-month tour in Afghanistan.

WEYI-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1tYzYNj ) the guardsman of the 1460th Transportation Company reunited with family and friends in Midland on Tuesday night. Gov. Rick Snyder praised the troops for their patriotism during a homecoming ceremony. The company traveled about 90,000 miles throughout southwest Afghanistan.

Local firefighters and police escorted the guardsmen to the Midland Dow High School football field. The company left from the high school for training last November and includes soldiers from across the region, including Bay, Midland and Saginaw counties.
