PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - TriMet is alerting riders that upgrading to Apple’s new smartphone models could unintentionally erase tickets they’ve purchased through the agency’s mobile fare app.

The Portland transit agency says users should recall tickets from their online account before upgrading phones.

The Oregonian reports (https://bit.ly/1uGBpxL ) more than a third of TriMet’s daily ridership - 130,000 people - have downloaded the ticketing app over the past year. More than half of them use iPhones.

TriMet emailed the alert to riders Tuesday, after The Oregonian began asking the agency about rider complaints involving missing fares on the iPhone 6.
