WINTERSBURG, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say an administrative building at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station 50 miles west of Phoenix has been evacuated after employees received a bomb threat.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s officials say deputies and plant employees were searching for a device that reportedly was outside the building’s secured perimeter Wednesday evening.

The evacuated building is on the outer perimeter of the triple-reactor plant, away from the nuclear-containment area.

By 7 p.m., sheriff’s officials say nothing had been found.

Authorities say the evacuation and search had no impact on plant operations.

A spokesman for Arizona Public Service, which operates the power plant for a consortium of utility companies, says Palo Verde security officials don’t view the incident as a credible threat because of the levels of security to get to the building.
