PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix firefighters and a police helicopter rescued two separate groups of hikers stranded on Camelback Mountain.

The Fire Department says firefighters first rescued seven hikers who were lost on top of the mountain Tuesday evening. They were assisted down from the mountain but didn’t require medical attention.

A Police Department helicopter crew who helped with that rescue then spotted two other hikers stuck on a dangerous mountain ledge elsewhere on the mountain.

Firefighters hiked to those hikers’ location and the helicopter then flew the hikers off the mountain.
