HEADLAND, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say they have found the bodies of two men inside the wreckage of a small airplane that had been missing for more than a week.

Henry County Sheriff Will Maddox tells The Dothan Eagle (https://bit.ly/Y8c5Gz ) the plane was found in the Chattahoochee River around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. He said the bodies of Steven Alec Haase of Dothan and David Michael Marlow of New Brockton were inside.

The plane was about five miles south of Franklin Landing, on the Georgia side of the river.

Maddox said divers searched the river after fishermen on Tuesday found a strut from the plane with a tire attached in the river.

The vintage Piper Cub aircraft left Headland bound for Eufaula on Sept. 16 and never landed.
