LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A reactor at the Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant in southwestern Michigan is expected to be offline for an unspecified amount of time for refueling and maintenance.

WSJM-FM and The Herald-Palladium of St. Joseph report the Unit 1 reactor was being shut down Tuesday night. Indiana Michigan Power already reduced the power on Saturday to 50 percent for equipment testing.

Cook’s Unit 2 remains at 100 percent power to continue providing electricity to the area. The plant is located in Berrien County’s Lake Township.
