SINTON, Texas (AP) - A South Texas youth who was 15 when he stabbed a neighbor during a robbery attempt at her home has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Dalton Michael Howlett of Portland was charged as an adult in the 2013 attack that left 70-year-old Linda Berger wounded.

Prosecutors in San Patricio County say Howlett, who’s now 17, pleaded guilty to burglary of a habitation and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. Howlett was sentenced Monday in Sinton in the plea deal. He originally was arrested on an attempted murder charge.

Howlett was sentenced to 30 years in prison on each count, to be served concurrently.
