PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island State Police say they’ve arrested and charged nine men with possession and transfer of child pornography.

Authorities said the state task force on internet crimes against children executed search warrants Wednesday at residences throughout Rhode Island in connection with a series of ongoing undercover investigations.

The accused are from Providence, Central Falls, Charlestown, Coventry, Cranston, Lincoln, Scituate and Smithfield. They range in age from 27 to 41. All were expected to be arraigned Wednesday.

Members of the task force were assisted by local and federal law enforcement.

A tenth individual who authorities said is a convicted sex offender was arrested for allegedly possessing a controlled substance. He’s on probation related to a prior conviction for possessing child pornography.
