SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. (AP) - A teenage jogger was fatally injured when he was struck by a vehicle while jogging in the direction of traffic on an unlit road in San Tan Valley.

The Pinal County Sheriff’s office says 16-year-old Jared Paul Odane was wearing dark clothing, and wearing earbuds and probably didn’t see or hear the vehicle him from behind about an hour before dawn Tuesday morning.

The driver immediately stopped and called 911 when he discovered the teen’s body.

The Sheriff’s Office says impairment does not appear to be a factor in the collision and that the driver does not face charges.
