SOLDOTNA, Alaska (AP) - A community meeting is planned Wednesday evening in Nikiski to discuss a recent increase in thefts.

KSRM reports (https://is.gd/zS7eZv) thefts have been a longstanding problem in the Kenai Peninsula community. Last year, private vehicles were stolen and vandalized, but businesses appear to be the new target.

Ann Krogseng with AA Dan’s Construction says the business was broken into earlier this month. Despite signs saying there are cameras in the lot, she says thieves took more than $10,000 in tools and items from vehicles.

Krogseng will oversee the meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. at the library inside the Nikiski Rec Center.
