MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Unemployment fell in every Wisconsin city and county last month.

The state Department of Workforce Development reported Wednesday that unemployment dropped in all of the 32 largest cities and in all 72 counties in August compared with July.

Racine continues to have the highest unemployment rate at 9.6 percent, down from 11.3 percent the month before. The second highest is Milwaukee at 8.3 percent, which is down from 9.4 percent in July.

Menominee County had the highest unemployment among all the counties at 15.3 percent, down from 18.3 percent the previous month. Dane County had the lowest at 3.5 percent, down from 4 percent.

The state’s overall unemployment rate in July was 5.6 percent, the lowest it’s been since 2008.
