EVERETT, Wash. (AP) - A 62-year-old woman with a history of mental health problems died Tuesday in the Snohomish County Jail in Everett.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton says the woman is believed to have suffered a medical emergency. She could not be revived by medics.

The woman had been living in Compass Health mental health housing in Everett. She was jailed Friday for investigation of assault for allegedly slapping a medical technician.

The Daily Herald (https://bit.ly/1rk7n2L ) reports at least 12 inmates have died at the county jail in the past four years. Reforms have been underway to address overcrowding and medical care.
