NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) - A lawsuit is accusing a former New York high school soccer player of punching an opponent during halftime and breaking his jaw.
The lawsuit was filed this month against the player, his parents and the school district.
The Journal News (https://lohud.us/1qBwGJK ) says the injured White Plains athlete’s family is seeking unspecified damages.
The suit accuses former New Rochelle player Stefedson Dieudonne of causing permanent injuries to Ozzie Escobedo on Oct. 9, 2013.
Dieudonne was charged with misdemeanor assault. The lawsuit says he pleaded guilty to the charge in June. The case is sealed because the 17-year-old was considered a youthful offender.
Attempts to contact Dieudonne’s parents were unsuccessful.
The suit says he had been punished for previous misconduct and the district failed to supervise him.
