PAUL SMITHS, N.Y. (AP) - If you want to learn to milk a goat, grow some mushrooms or make apple cider, check out the third annual Adirondack Rural Skills and Homesteading Festival at the Paul Smith’s Visitors’ Interpretive Center.
The all-day event Saturday will showcase historical traditions, as well as modern tools and techniques for rural living.
Workshops and demonstrations include canning food, dehydrating jerky, raising chickens, quilt-making, maple syrup production, using solar energy and logging with draft horses.
There will also be live music, a farmers’ market and a demonstration of competitive lumberjack sports by the Paul Smith’s College Woodsmen’s Team.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
