FAIRFIELD, Maine (AP) - The federal Department of Labor is giving $2.5 million to Kennebec Valley Community College in Maine for training programs in industries including health care, construction and social assistance.

The grant is part of the department’s Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training initiative. The funding will help pay to hire and train instructors to expand the college’s capacity for courses and certification programs. It will also help expand online programs, develop new methods of training, and buy new equipment for specific fields.

Kennebec Valley Community College is located in Fairfield, just north of Waterville.
