CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) - A man who just finished a federal prison sentence for trading stolen guns for drugs has been charged in a hit-and-run accident in Cranston.

Derrick King pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Warwick District Court to multiple charges including leaving the scene of an accident and assaulting a police officer.

WPRI-TV reports (https://bit.ly/Wa2MV6 ) that police records say King fled from a head-on crash in Cranston on Saturday and assaulted a police sergeant.

Court records show King posted bail. A phone listing for him couldn’t be found. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer.

WPRI also reports that King’s brother, Daniel King, was charged with felony assault in Cranston last week, after police say he accidentally shot a 9-year-old girl in the back with an arrow. The girl wasn’t seriously hurt.
