MIAMI (AP) - The driver of a bus that crashed in 2012 into a Miami International Airport overpass, killing three people, has pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide charges.

Ramon Ferreiro was sentenced Wednesday to two years of house arrest, eight years of probation and 300 hours of community service. The 48-year-old man’s driver’s license also was permanently revoked, although he can reapply for it after his probation ends.

Prosecutors say the 12-foot-tall charter bus driven by Ferreiro slammed into the 10-foot-high airport walkway overpass despite numerous signs warning of low clearance. Ferreiro was taking a group of Jehovah’s Witnesses to an assembly in West Palm Beach.

The Miami Herald (https://hrld.us/1uAXxK8) reports that there was no evidence of drug or alcohol use and no evidence Ferreiro was texting or otherwise distracted.
