FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. (AP) - Classes are canceled at an Orange County high school as police investigate an emailed threat to bomb the campus and shoot any survivors.

Police officials say they decided to shut down Fountain Valley High after receiving word of the threat early Wednesday.

Sgt. Tony Luce tells KABC-TV that officers identified and contacted the 17-year-old student who owns the email account.

Luce says the teen denied sending any threat and allowed officers to inspect his computer and other devices.

Luce says officers found no evidence that the email came directly from the student.

He says the student does not appear to have access to any weapons.

The school is deserted as a bomb squad carries out inspections.

Classes started Aug. 27.
