MERIDIAN, Miss. (AP) - Lauderdale County is applying for a state grant to pay for renovations at the court courthouse in Meridian.

The Meridian Star reports (https://bit.ly/1lz0ifh ) supervisors this week approved applying for a $400,000 grant from the Mississippi Department of Archives and History.

If the county receives the grant, it will be expected to provide a 20 percent match.

Supervisor Josh Todd says the county applied for a similar grant in 2013 but did not receive it.

He says some work has already been done at the courthouse this year.
