PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - A Maine man has been sentenced to eight months in prison for using $19,000 worth of fake traveler’s checks.
U.S. District Attorney Thomas Delahanty’s office said on Wednesday that Keith Coleman also received three years of supervised release and must pay $19,000 in restitution.
Officials say that the 48-year-old Windham resident passed 190 fake traveler’s checks at a variety of stores and restaurants in Maine and Massachusetts between December 2013 and January of this year.
Coleman pleaded guilty to the scheme in May.
