LAFAYETTE, Ga. (AP) - Authorities in northwest Georgia say rescue workers spent hours in the rain working to free a man who was trapped in a mountain cave.
Walker County Community Emergency Response Team coordinator Mary Perry says several organizations were involved in the rescue of a man who was trapped in Pettyjohn’s Cave on Pigeon Mountain early Wednesday morning.
Perry tells the Rome News Tribune (https://bit.ly/1qcXW63 ) the hours long rescue effort was hampered by rain and the man didn’t suffer any serious injuries.
Perry says the man was on the mountain with a caving group and told other members to call 911 if he didn’t return after a set amount of time. The man’s identity hasn’t been released.
