MCCOMB, Miss. (AP) - McComb residents will be under a boil-water notice for at least two days following an overnight power loss to the city’s water system.

The Mississippi State Department of Health issued the order Wednesday. It affects 19,731 water customers.

Deputy Public Works Director Sabrina England tells the Enterprise-Journal (https://bit.ly/1uAPZXI ) says the power outage Tuesday night caused a malfunction to the computer system. That caused the water tanks to dump water and caused a loss of pressure to the system, which can lead to contaminants being introduced.

England says tanks were filling back up and water pressure was expected to return.

The city must submit water samples to health officials that come back clear two days in a row, making Friday the earliest day the boil-water notice could be lifted.
