WAIPAHU, Hawaii (AP) - A custodian at an Oahu elementary school is charged with sexually assaulting a student.

Kanoelani Elementary School Principal Stacie Kunihisa sent a note Tuesday informing parents that an alleged sexual assault took place last week on campus.

James Holt was charged Monday with third-degree sex assault. The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports he posted $50,000 bail. He couldn’t immediately be reached for comment Wednesday.

Kunihisa tells Hawaii News Now the 53-year-old Wahiawa resident is a substitute custodian and has worked at the Waipio school since 2000.

He’s expected to appear in court Thursday.
