SEATTLE (AP) - A Marine recruiter accused of having sexual contact with a 17-year-old high school girl he was trying to sign up pleaded not guilty to a sexual misconduct charge Tuesday in King County Superior Court.

The Seattle Times reports (https://is.gd/x0z51l ) Louis Henry Abalos was charged Aug. 15 after a two-year investigation.

The 33-year-old Renton man was released pending his next court appearance and ordered not to have any contact with the woman who is now 19.

Charging papers say she told investigators she felt pressured to have sex to get a position in the Marines. She gave up her dream of serving in the Marines because of what happened to her.

Abalos said he never had any sexual contact with any of his potential recruits.
