MCENTIRE JOINT NATIONAL GUARD BASE, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina Air National Guard F-16s are flying over Anderson and Florence in an air defense exercise.

Senior Master Sgt. Ed Snyder says the aircraft from the 169th Fighter Wing might be seen Wednesday escorting a single-engine aircraft from the South Carolina Civil Air Patrol in the afternoon hours.

Snyder says the exercise is being coordinated with the Federal Aviation Administration and people should not be alarmed by the activity.

The exercise out of the McEntire Joint National Guard Base near Eastover is conducted so pilots and crews remain in top form in case they must respond to respond to airborne threats over the United States.
