TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A suspect wounded in a Tucson police shooting five months ago finally has been released from a hospital and booked into jail.

Tucson police announced Wednesday that 37-year-old Michael Castillo is being held on suspicion of two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of prohibited possessor of a gun and one count of unlawful possession of narcotic drugs.

Police were preparing to serve a search warrant at Castillo’s apartment on April 11 in connection to suspected drug crimes.

Officers say Castillo left his apartment and they tried to detain him in a parking lot pending the search.

That led to a foot chase and police say Castillo turned toward the officers, pointed a gun at them and fired a shot.

Two officers returned fire and Castillo was wounded.
