SEASIDE PARK, N.J. (AP) - Police say a 17-year-old swimmer was injured while body surfing in Seaside Park.

The Toms River resident was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center on Tuesday.

Police Cpl. Steve Shadiack tells the Asbury Park Press (https://on.app.com/1ulubjR ) the boy was body surfing when he struck the sand with his chin. He complained of numbness in his extremities.

There’s no word on his condition.
