PHOENIX (AP) - Jury selection has been postponed for an Oklahoma man charged with mailing an inoperable homemade bomb to Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

Lawyers were scheduled to pick a jury Wednesday for Gregory Lynn Shrader of Jay, Oklahoma, but jury selection was called off because Shrader’s son died in a vehicle accident Tuesday in Texas.

Instead, jury selection is scheduled to begin Thursday.

Shrader is accused of driving from Oklahoma to Arizona in April 2013 to drop off a package containing the bomb at a U.S. Postal Service collection-box unit in Flagstaff.

Prosecutors say Shrader had mailed the package to frame his former partner in a financial trading books business.

The package was addressed to Arpaio and listed Shrader’s former partner on the return address.

The partner denied sending the package.
