TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - One person has been killed in a fire at a Tacoma apartment building for seniors.

The fire department says it started about 11 a.m. Tuesday in the kitchen of a basement unit where the person was found dead.

Spokesman Joe Meinecke tells The News Tribune (https://bit.ly/1uag1TF ) the fire was put out by the sprinkler system.

Other residents of the Annobee apartments were evacuated to the lawn to wait until they were allowed back inside.
