BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Three people are dead following a fiery head-on collision over the weekend in South Florida.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office reports that a man was driving a Ford Fusion on Military Trail in Boynton Beach Sunday afternoon when he swerved into the oncoming lane and crashed into an Acura TSX. The Fusion went airborne and hit a Toyota Camry. After finally reaching the ground, the Fusion burst into flames.

Authorities say the Fusion’s driver was dead by the time rescuers got the fire out. Investigators were waiting for dental records to positively identify him.

The Acura’s passenger, 88-year-old Celia Fritz, died at the scene, while the car’s driver, 88-year-old Betty Etta Belle Gordon, was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at a Delray Beach hospital.

No injuries were reported for the driver and passenger of the Camry.
